Sara Houghteling is the author of Pictures at an Exhibition, a New York Times Editors’ Choice Book. A recipient of the Narrative Prize and a fellowship from the NEA, her work has also appeared in The New York Times, Narrative Magazine, and the San Francisco Chronicle. She has been recognized with fellowships and awards from the Fulbright foundation, the Camargo Residency, a Wallant Award, the Ribalow Prize, Sustainable Arts, and an Avery Jules Hopwood Award in both fiction and playwriting.  A former high school English teacher, Houghteling received her MFA from the University of Michigan.
